The Aurora database includes funding organisations for sciences, arts and culture for both project funding and personal grants. The database includes Finnish and foreign funding opportunities, which are available for Finns or those residing in Finland. The database lists some 800 funding organisations and new funding opportunities are added on constantly to keep the database up to date. The information on Aurora is collected directly from the funding organisations. Users should verify all information from the funding organisations directly e.g. through their own websites which will also provide more detailed application information.
The Aurora database is open to everyone and free of charge. The system is maintained by the Council of Finnish Foundations association (SRNK) and the database contents are produced by the University of Turku. The funding for Aurora comes from Finnish grant-making foundations through the Council of Finnish Foundations, the Finnish state via the Ministry of Education and Culture, universities through the Universities Finland UNIFIassociation, universities of applied sciences through Arene, the Rectors' Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences, and State Research Institutes via the Research Institutes’ Directors Council TUNE.
